Promoting the Message of the Kingdom

What an interesting thought!  Lately my thoughts have been directed to the topic of promotion, specifically promoting His message or the message of the kingdom.  The term does have some negative connotations to it but when used correctly or with the right motivation it can be used in good ways to spread the message of the kingdom.  God is speaking in our day and wants us to know what is on His mind and heart.  As the people of God, we do not need to think of promotion, marketing, or any other of the synonymous terms as being evil.  When our heart and mind are aligned with His, then our motivation will be right; this is crucial as we are working in the harvest fields.  Our spiritual drive and passion should be properly aligned with what our Father is focused on.  The Bible teaches that promotion does not come from any other person than the Lord.  The Psalmist spoke of this insight in Psalm 75.

Psalm 75:6   For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

As sons of God, we are living in a time that God is asking us to spread or promote His message throughout the world.  To do this, we need to use every technological venue to spread the message.  The Lord has put it in my heart to establish the ministry Passionate for His Purpose as one of the ways to accomplish this task.  God can do whatever He wants in order to reach the world, but I believe using technology can be a major tool that He uses to go into all the world to proclaim the good message of the kingdom.  Jesus did speak these words in His commissioning of the apostles.  Read this in the Gospel of Mark.

Mark 16:14-18   14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Technology is advancing in incredible ways from smartphones to appliances, and lighting in homes is even being able to be controlled via phone applications and the internet. This is just a small sampling of current technological advancements we can see. My point is that, in our day, we have a lot more ways to spread the message of the kingdom throughout the world.  I remember in my childhood not even having a computer or a smartphone.  The technology we have today did not even exist back then.  God can and is using technology to advance His message and kingdom.

I want you to think with me for a moment.  Traditionally, what is the way most Christians think about preaching the gospel?  How does the preaching of the gospel occur?  Most think about an individual standing in front of people declaring the salvation message, which is true. I do believe in proclaiming of this kind of a message, too.  What I want you to think about is the use of technology in “going into all the world.”  We cannot fulfill this directive physically; we can be in only one place at a time.  We are not omnipresent and have limited capabilities in the physical realm.  The proclamation of the gospel involves using our declarative capacities.  Paul wrote about this in the book of Romans.

Romans 10:14-15   14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

As we are declaring and promoting His message, it is equally important to remember this can be accomplished in a variety of ways.  One of those ways is by hearing the message spoken forth by a preacher or individual proclaiming the divine truth.  Notice with me in the verses above the emphasis is on hearing, which brings me to my next thought.  How do we hear?  Is it only by the vocalization of words to us?  The answer is absolutely not.  Before you think I am saying something completely outrageous, I did not say hearing does not involve listening to another person speak to us.  I said it is not the ONLY way to hear.  To learn more about hearing from God click on this link to get a physical or digital copy of by book titled Shama:  Hearing and Obeying the Voice of God.

What are some other ways we can hear a message?  We can hear by reading a book, listening to audio/music, watching videos, or enrolling in an online course.  I am simply trying to focus on the myriad number of ways that could be used in promoting the message of the kingdom using unconventional means.  I know we need to be wise and cautious, but this does not mean we should shelve technology altogether.  Technology in Biblical days was not like it is today.  We need to embrace it and use it in sharing His message all over the world.

Promoting Man

This leads me to the concept of promotion as it relates to mankind.  From the beginning of this writing, I have solely addressed how we should be about our Father’s business.  This needs to remain our central focus, or we will be missing the mark.  We are called to be a light to the world.  The source of the light is only found in Him.  The Bible says God is light.  We need to be reflectors of His light, not our own.  Man-made promotion should not have any place as we are working in the harvest field.  Our desire should be promoting whatever God is thinking and feeling and to shout this from the rooftops in His timing.  Any other motivation is not focused on God but on man.

Promoting a Ministry

Promotion of a ministry is not in itself wrong; however, it can lead to incorrect motivation if we are not careful.  I know we are to be focused on the work of the “ministry”, but we should not put a ministry on a pedestal or promote it above the message of the kingdom.  God must be the central focus of all that we say and do.  May God help us all as we move forward in sharing and spreading His message across the world.

I want to leave you with some final thoughts.  How can you expand your influence in going into all the world with the message of the kingdom?  What are some of the ways you can “go into all the world?”  One of the ways God is asking me to do this is by establishing the ministry Passionate for His Purpose.  He has put it in my heart to provide different types of digital offerings to accomplish this, such as ebooks, digital teachings, online courses, and much more.  You might be thinking, “I do not have any of these kinds of offerings available to share His message.”  This might be the truth.  Are there any other ways you can assist in this process?  You might not have written any books or created any online courses, but you can definitely be a part of this by supporting people and ministries that are spreading His message in these ways.
